Finding a good Labrador breeder – Reviews

Your Letters

We’re always delighted to receive letters from people who’ve bought puppies from us and enjoy following their progress throughout their lives.

Below are some of the lovely comments we’ve received, many of them were accompanied by photos, which are displayed in our gallery.

If you’ve bought a dog from us and would like to send us a photo for inclusion in the gallery, or would simply like to let us know how they’re getting on, we would love to hear from you via email or via our contact page

Dog: Mcnulty

Hi Lorraine

Hope all is well with you, I thought you would like to see how our girl is growing. She is just gorgeous and very settled into the family. She has had her 12-week immunisation and enjoyed the chance to get out and start exploring our garden.

We are off to puppy school today best wishes.

– Catie

Dog: Millie

Millie has now been with us for just over two weeks and we can’t imagine life without her. She is such a lovely little girl, sleeping, eating and playing and sits to command already. She loves everyone and everyone loves her.

Thank you Lorraine and Tom for our perfect little lass x

– Clare Woods

Dog: Bailey Leonard

Just wanted to say a big thank you for selling us the greatest dog, Bailey. He is so funny, clever and loving.

He is growing really fast. Here are a few snaps of his first week with us. Many thanks for all your help and advice.

– Sam and Debi

Dog: Bliss Morris

Bliss has been great. No crying at night and has had her first jab. Bliss now takes her naps in the day on Bracken’s bed with her.

We all would like to say a big thank you again for bringing her into our lives.

– Donna & Ady

Dog: Toby Wiljes

Toby is the most gorgeous dog, he has the most amazing temperament and is a joy to be around. Everyone who meets him comments on how beautiful he is and how shiny his coat is. He plays really well with the dogs he meets in the park and is so well behaved around our visitors. He was house trained within 2 weeks and has never destroyed anything in the house. When we put his food down he will sit and stay until we tell him to eat it (which we think is a major achievement for a Labrador !!) He will sit, stay, lie down, come, roll over – and this is without even going to puppy training classes! We made sure we socialised him a lot at a very young age so he is used to most environments and people and not timid of anything. We would like to thank you so much for bringing him into our world. We would not be without him, he has fitted in to our family like a glove and we love him so much. Once again, thank you for everything – you should be very proud of what your lovely dogs have produced.

– Leigh and Julia

Dog: Skye Kennedy

Our beautiful girl Skye is very clever, obedient and has a fantastic temperament. She is adored by all who know her, especially all the children that live on our road. Thank you very much Loraine and Tom.

– Wayne

Dog: Dory

We were involved in the Help for Heroes convoy and of course Dory was with us!, We also had some professional photos and brought the copy write with one of the most if not the most important part of the family had to come.

I hope you are all well

Kindest regards

– Sara Smith

Dog: Lola

Lola’s showing her character now and has learnt to sit already (when she’s not too excited in other things anyway!) … thanks for all the help and advice.

– Matt

Dog: Poppy Pollard

Poppy is doing really well. Kept us a wake the first 2 nights, but now sleeps through. She’s sitting on command already, Maisy has really taken to her, and we reckon they will be inseparable. Cats are ignoring her but that’s a good thing at the moment. She had her 1st injection last Saturday and we can’t wait till she has her 2nd and then she can go out. She’s a right wriggly worm (as we call her) as she can’t bear to be still for too long.

– Rob and Alex

Dog: Charlie

I hope you are both keeping well.

I thought I would send over a couple of pictures of Charlie. I do not know where the time has gone over the last few weeks, it really has flown. We were hit by the sleepless nights at first, but over the last couple of weeks, he has gone until 5am or 6am, which is very welcome! Harry adores him and the pair are good friends. He loves his food and socialising with other dogs. He is very playful and we are always stopped in the street by people commenting on how gorgeous he is. He is one of the family already and we can’t imagine being without him.

I hope you both enjoy the jubilee and take care

– Lisa X

Dog: Barney

Just thought I’d send you a quick e-mail re Barney, and how much joy he is bringing us. He is completely house trained bless him, has boundless energy and is just an overall fantastic dog. We are so pleased he is ours, and he is really developing in terms of his skills, namely socialisation with other dogs. He has met various dogs within the family, and he is so well behaved to the point were he is best pals with my sis-in-law dog who doesn’t usual bond with other dogs, but they happily follow each other around the garden playing … Thanks again – he is a credit to you both.

– Neal & Yvonne

Dog: Lottie Bond

Lottie is doing so well and we love her to bits, she is brilliant! Started taking her out for little walks and she is great on the lead and with other dogs and people, she goes outside for toilet and sleeps through the night now.

She knows how to sit and wait and lie down so she is picking everything up very fast!

– Cheryl and Duncan

Dog: Jasper

I just wanted to thank you again for the advice regarding Jasper last night! He has eaten more today and is definitely back to his normal cheeky self, bouncing around after his toys and sneakily trying to chew things!! He’s currently fast asleep after running around the living room chasing his ball!

I’ve attached some photos so you can see how he’s settling in! Thank you again and we’ll speak to you soon with regards to his next injection!

Kind Regards

– Amy and James

Dog: Wisper

Hi Lol

Thought you might like to see a rather nice pic of my eldest son William and Wispa in our garden. This was taken just over two weeks ago and I can`t believe how much she`s grown since!

She had her final jabs on Friday and was microchipped as well-she also has a smart KC design ID tag on her collar now and looks absolutely gorgeous. She weighed in at 5K (4.98 to be exact) which seemed OK to the vet.

She has her basket inside the crate and is very snug and cosy and completely happy to take herself there whenever she wants a rest or asleep.

I`ve made a 5ft sq wire pen at the top of the lawn and this is where she is now put for `toilet`-she is learning to perform in there more or less on command. She is still on four meals a day and taking about 50-60g at each meal.

Towards the end of next week, we`re planning to take her in the car to a dog-friendly garden centre for a first trip out and maybe start a few short walks out on the road.

She`s picked up a lot of basic commands and routines already and is a complete joy to have around (although we still get the odd few minutes of mad hurtling around!!). – so just to let you know that everything is going really, really well and you should feel really proud to be producing pups of this quality.

She`s everything we could have hoped for

Cheers-love and best wishes to Tom

– Ian

Dog: Jake

When you buy a Labrador from Broadsamlee Labradors you are doing much more than just getting a puppy you are joining the Broadfield family.

It’s abundantly clear that Lorraine and Tom live for their dogs and that their passion for them is bread into each and every puppy.

They provide the upmost care and love for each of their dogs and the support they give to prospective and new owners is beyond what you would expect.

I highly recommend them as Labrador breeders and would not dream of looking elsewhere if I was interested in a second puppy.

Thank you Lorraine and Tom for doing such a fabulous job and for giving me my Jake.

– Melanie Kirby xx

Dog: Tia

Hi both,

We just wanted to give you an update on our beautiful Tia. We took her home to my mums two dogs and unfortunately they were not keen on how boisterous she was because they were so old, we love Tia that much we went to the lengths of getting our own home. Tia is very settled, loves her massive garden and her freedom. She has grown up to be a pleasure, a dog eager to please and give lots of love and affection, she loves her cuddles on the sofa in the evening!

Thank you for giving us such a loving pet.

– Jodie Adams

Dog: Bella

Just thought I’d update you on Bella’s progress (born January 2011) She has an amazing temperament and an extremely glossy coat! She’s regularly gets people stoping/smiling/commenting how beautiful she is so credit to her parents!

She’s a wonderful dog so thank you, I will certainly come back to you in the future should you still be breeding,

Kind Regards

– Dave Pearson

Dog: Oscar

Dear Lol and Tom,

Here is photo of our adorable Oscar. He is such a lovely dog with a mischievous, playful nature. We have nicknamed him Fagin as he is very good at stealing things and can even get a tissue out of a hoody pouch pocket while I’m wearing it!

He loves going for walks especially if it has been raining so there are a lot of muddy puddles. He likes nothing better than to roll around in it covering himself and us in mud. I look like “Stig of the Dump” after walking him sometimes. He more often than not needs a hosing down before we can let him into the house! He is definitely a boy dog….a real mud magnet!!! He does make us laugh the way he charges backwards and forwards through puddles trying to eat the water as he goes.

He is such a sociable fella and greets people and other dogs with great enthusiasm. He is especially fond of meeting and charging around with other labs. All the lab owners we’ve met are so friendly and comment on what a good looking dog Oscar is!

Oscar is such a big part of our family that we can’t imagine life without him now!!  Chris (our eldest son) adores Oscar and Oscar him. Chris picks him up like a baby and Oscar loves it.

With love and very best wishes to you and all at Broadsamlee,

– Steph Kiernan x

Dog: Nahla

Dear Lorraine and Tom,

I hope this email finds you both well. I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how Nahla is getting on.

The title says it all! She really is the perfect puppy. She has settled in beautifully! She had toilet training sussed within the first week, she walks beautifully on her lead and she sleeps through the night without a murmur. We take daily short walks in our local park, where both myself and Nahla have already made new friends, both human and K9. She enjoys car rides and even insists on accompanying me on the 2 second drive from the garage to the bottom of the yard, when I get the car out.

I think we should have named her Shadow because she follows me absolutely everywhere! She is so clever she listens to every word I say. She really is a credit to you both as breeders!

The girls and I all adore her and we are immensely grateful to you both. I will continue to let you know how she is doing. Thank you both again from the bottom of our hearts!

All our love

– Anne, Chantelle, Elise and Nahla xxxxx

Dog: Roxy

Hi both,

Just wanted to drop to you an email to thank you for the joy that our Labrador has given us in abundance. Roxy was of the major/rosy litter back in 2003/2004, she was known to you as red on head.

She is soon to be put to sleep and wanted to thank your breeding, as it is time to stop her suffering, she is now blind having suffered diabetes for about 2 years, because we all love her it is time to let her go, she will take a piece of everyone she has touched with her.

I cannot explain in words how much happiness she has given us unconditionally, everyone that has had the privilege of being in her company have loved her instantaneously, she has been a joy, we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have loved her.

Thank you for your continued commitment to giving families the same gift as you gave us years ago.

Roxy will be treasured in our hearts forever until we meet again.

– Roxy, Selina and Iain Clare

Dog: Millie

Hi Tom and Lorraine, I hope you are both keeping well along with your furry friends

We had Millie (Broadsamlee About a Girl) from you almost 13 years ago now, we can’t believe she is almost 13, how time flies. Millie is doing great for her age, got a lot of lumps all over now but none of them seems to bother her and our vet is not worried about them. We call her our lumpy bumpy baby. She takes Incurin for incontinence, Prevacox and Tramadol for pain relieve with arthritis and a supplement for her joints – well I say she takes them, she eats her food and leaves her tablets most of the time

Despite the above, she is a very happy Millie and still has her mad moments when she runs around the house like a loony – we really wouldn’t have her any other way. She has brought so much happiness and joy to our family, she is such a loyal and lovable dog, we couldn’t have wished for a better dog. She is currently snuggled up on the end of my bed while I am typing this message. I wonder if you remember us coming to see you the day before Martins 40 birthday to see if he wanted to have a puppy – I can remember it like it was yesterday, mommy sat beside him and you told him she was expecting and that he could have one of her pups if he wanted it. The look on his face said it all. I still think to this day that getting Millie for his birthday was the absolute best present he has ever had. I am sure he loves her more than me – I don’t blame him, she is so easy to love. She has helped him through some tough times over the years – all she asked for was to be loved and cared for – you could even say spoilt – and believe me, she is, she is our baby – what do you expect.

She is such a softie, she loves everyone who comes to our house, big people, little people – especially our 4-year-old grandson, engineers, builders etc and they all seem to love her. She greets everyone with a happy waggy tail and still brings them her favourite toys.

We just wanted to let you know how grateful we are to have her in our lives and thank you for the care you showed when I first contacted you all those years ago telling you I was afraid of dogs. An hour on the phone and a visit to your home, you made me feel so safe around I think about 14 dogs all in one room! Having your own dog is certainly the best way to get over your fear.

Here’s to enjoying many more years with our Milliemoos.

Thank you Tom and Lorraine for the best gift in the world – hope you like the pics which have all been taken over the last 12 months.

– Teresa and Martin

Dog: Jess

Tom, Lorraine, been some time now, thought you would like to see how little Jess is getting on, it’s been 3 years last May.

We moved to West Wales in 2014 so only 5mins from a beach. She still has the occasional tummy problems and a minor skin condition in summer but other than that she his a wonderful loving family pet who has enriched our lives immensely.

Kind Regards

– Bob & Lin Gibson

Dog: Bella

Hi Lorraine and Tom,

We wanted to say a huge thanku to you both, we wanted a service dog for our son Callum who’s autistic and we went on fogs for disabled waiting list , we were on there over 1 1/2 years when they came out to do an assessment on Callum, on that day Callum was very loud and boisterous and they said they were going to find it really hard to match a dog with Callum, that was hard for us to hear and didn’t know what we were going to do.

One day when Callum was at school I typed in Labrador breeders, I spoke to a few different breeders and they were all saying different things that was confusing me then I came across you, from the moment I started to talk to you I had a feeling you were going to be the ones to help us, you invited us all over to meet you both and your dogs and when we arrived Callum was a bit upset there were 3 large dogs around him and he started to scream and when I say scream I mean really loud, to my amazement all the dogs especially beau the pregnant one were so gentle with him they were watching him as if the were concerned it was lovely, for some reason I don’t know why but I didn’t say yes straight away I don’t understand why but I wanted to see a Labrador bitch that wasn’t pregnant to see how she reacted around Callum, there you were you already had the answer for me you gave me a number of a lady who had a bitch from you for her autistic son, I gave her a call and she invited us over to meet them all, wow it was what I needed to see it got us to make our minds up that you were definitely the right breeders for us and we came straight back over to you to leave a deposit.31st October Halloween night we had a call to say beau had her puppy’s we were all so excited, there’s was just one thing bothering us we were going on holiday 27th December and that’s when the puppies would be due to leave for there new homes, I discussed it with you and it seemed nothing was too much trouble for you straight away you said don’t worry we can keep her till you come back off holiday, that was fantastic news for us, after beau had the puppy’s we were kept informed how they were all doing we were also sent lots of pictures and videos of the puppy’s, we had decided after talking to you that we were having a bitch we were told they were more motherly it was defiantly the best decision we made.

Now for the hard bit was to name Callums dog that was so hard because he’s non-verbal in the end we decided on Bella because we could shorten it if we ever needed to if Callum starts talking, so now we have a name the next big thing was choosing which puppy, when we said at first we had to choose when they were in a crate I found that a bit odd but when it came to it I understand why do that, Callum was not cooperating at all he had no interest in the puppy’s he was screaming because he could see the other dogs so it was up to me and I really didn’t know how to choose from the 3 of them but then I realised there was one that stud out from the other two she was darker and she was the littlest so now we had our puppy Bella. Bella came home on 11 January and when Callum first saw her he pulled a terrible face and didn’t want to know, I didn’t force him to go by her and it took 4 days for him to take any notice of her, on the 4th day he came home from school and as soon as he walked through the door he was looking to see where she was it was wonderful, Callum does a lot of screaming and Bella will get up and walk over to him to make sure he’s ok it’s unbelievable to the way the other week I had to pick Callum up from school as he had been sick we he came home he fell fast asleep on the living room floor, Bella lay next to him and also fell asleep and she didn’t move until he woke up it brought tears to my eyes.

Whenever we take them both out for a walk she doesn’t leave his side she is amazing and it’s best decisions that we have made it’s completed our life she is amazing she hasn’t had any training she has done this all herself and she definitely knows that there’s something wrong with Callum but with Bella by his side there’s no need go worry because we know she will protect him she’s amazing and we can’t thank you enough for all the support and time you have given us we know you are always at the end of the phone if we need you for anything and we just wanted to say you have made our family complete Callum has got his best friend who loves him no matter what conditions he has or even when he’s in a bad mood she always there for him.

Love you all lots xxxxxx

Dog: Preta

Good morning Lorraine,

Merry Christmas and a little photo of Preta at now 8 months. Since 6 months when she first swam in the Camel River, she swims at every opportunity. She is coming along well in training (every Monday) and is now 27kgs in weight.

This is one of her favourite toys but only gets to play with it for an odd hour every other day, otherwise stick chewing, loves bones and general playtime.

Excellent car traveller, even been on trains and good when we stay in hotels or eat in bars. She has recently spent one night away from us with a friend which went well and this week will spend 2 nights with her.

All in all, she is developing well. We wish you a great festive season.

– David & Diana

Dog: Preta

Hi Lorraine,

At 12 weeks Preta weighed 8.9 kg. She is a bundle of fun. Now knows the words walk and car. She loves playing in our local streams and short woodland walks.

Almost every day she learns a new trick. This picture is from yesterday when she climbed into the chair unaided, but she did not stay long as it was too hot. Tomorrow is her 2nd puppy class. She has also been completely clean and dry in her cage overnight for the last 4 nights.

Hope you are all well, Love

Dog: Wispa

We’ve taken a cottage in Dorset for the week and a gorgeous girl is with us.

Ian

Dog: Wispa

Good morning, I have attached some pictures of Lottie. She is growing so quickly, I can’t believe she was such a little dot when we brought her home.

She really does make the house feel like a home. You definitely know how to breed amazing, happy and well-tempered pups.

I hope you are well,

Michaela, Sam and Lottie x

Dog: Bruno

Hi Both,

I hope you are well and all your wonderful dogs are in good health and are still as wonderful as when we met them all 

I thought I’d just send you a quick note with a couple of Pictures of Bruno. He’s a few months away from being two now and I can’t believe how fast time flies, he is an amazing dog, very loving and loyal. I couldn’t ask for a better best friend, we will be looking to have another Labrador in the near future after we move house and we will of course be coming to you.

Please see a few pictures of Bruno attached.

Thank you,

Holly and John

Dog: Monty

Hi hope you are both well,

We just wanted to say thank you for giving us the most amazing addition to our family. Can’t believe Monty is going to be 1 on Monday. We have had the best year ever with this little chap and look forward to many more.

Dog: Alum

Hi Lorraine, hope you’re doing well.

Just thought I’d send you a quick update on our little man (or as you can see from the photo not so little any more!!!).

Alun’s settled in brilliantly and so well behaved (if quite boisterous now!!). He’s really good with his crate training and goes in no problem day and night without fuss, he’s also really good at keeping it clean and has learned to go to the newspaper at the back door whenever he’s out and about.

He met his grandad and great-grandma for the first time last weekend which he loved and was an absolute star and then had his first trip to our local vet yesterday just to introduce him and let them take a quick look and again did brilliantly – everyone’s in love with him!!

When would you like us to bring him up for his next jabs? I know it’s a couple of weeks away but thought I’d better check as I may need to take a day off work if it’s not a weekend appointment – it’s not a problem to do that I just need to book it in. Just to check will he also have his microchip done at the same time?

Anyway hope all’s well with you and the rest of the family and look forward to hearing from you and I hope you like the picture

Speak soon & Take care

Caz

Dog: Ozzie

Hi Tom & Lorraine,

Thought I’d finally get round to sending you a picture of Ozzie. He is an absolute angel, and really well behaved. Everyone who meets him always comments on what a handsome dog he is, and he certainly knows it with the way he walks when we are out! We cannot thank you both enough for all the help and guidance you gave us when we first had Oz, and the support you continue to offer.

Love Jonathan, Lisa, Tamzin & Archie, and of cause Ozzie

Dog: Cheni

Dear Tom and Lorraine

Thank you very much for sending the worming pills for Cheni. He is growing well and responding to training and trying our patience at times. However you can see from the attached recent picture that he is a very attractive dog and we love him dearly. He has a rough patch of hair all the way down his spine which gives him character.

We hope that you have a very happy Christmas,

Gordon and Sue

Dog: Lottie

Hi Lorraine,

I hope you are well. It feels like Lottie has always been here, we couldn’t imagine life without her.

I have attached some pictures of her for you.

I have attached some pictures of Lottie from when she was about 10 weeks old. We got the pictures back today and I thought you might like some of them. There are also a couple from last week in Sutton Park.

She is enjoying puppy training and is really good around other dogs.

She is an absolute delight, you really do breed wonderful puppies and we are so grateful to have her..

Dog: Arther

Hi, Just want to say a big thank you, Arthur has been with us a week now and has settled in so well and we couldn`t imagine life without him and we all love him so much.

Many Thanks

Donna Dave Chloe & Eloise

Dog: Lottie

Good morning, I just want to say a huge thank you for our little Lottie, she’s the most amazing puppy, who has already brought so much life and happiness into the house.

She has settled really well. She had a good explore when we got home then we put her in her crate where she barked…a lot, but we persevered. When she came out she did some extra exploring and met my parents (who absolutely adore her) she loved exploring downstairs.

She went into her crate at bedtime and she barked for about 15 minutes then went to sleep so putting her in there when we got home briefly really helped as she was settled in there all night (2 brief wake-ups but she settled herself) We had one very happy and full of life little pup when we got her out this morning.

I really can’t thank you enough for the care you have taken and all of the information you have given us, it is wonderful to know that we have all we need as well as all your support in the future.

Thank you,

Michaela, Sam and Lottie x

Dog: Monty

Please feel free to use any portion of this email on your website as a testimonial for your wonderful doggies! As you know we fell in love with the pup which is now our boy Lincoln as soon as we saw him. He was a gorgeous little mite and already quite a character!

Dog: Nahla

I hope you are both well. As promised i have sent some more photos of Nahla on our recent holiday at Brean Sands.

As you can see, she absolutely loved it! The minute her paws touched the sand she went completely crazy. She also took to the sea straight away which surprised me. I expected her to be a bit unsure due to the noise and movement of the waves but she proved us wrong and dived straight in.

Love to you both and all the k9s

Dog: Nahla

Hope you are both well. I thought I would send another couple of photos of Nahla still looking as beautiful as ever.

She is still doing really well. We are so glad that we were put in contact with you because I truly believe we could not find a better dog anywhere.

We are taking her on her first holiday next Saturday to Brean. A friend is renting her caravan to us and doesn’t mind us taking our furry baby.

Will send some pictures of her on vacation soon.

Love to you both

Dog: Honey & Willow

Hi Lol and Tom,

Hope you and all of your canine family are well. Just wanted to send you a quick update on Willow and Honey. Have attached some pictures so you can see just how lovely they are. The girls have started to lose their baby teeth this week, we are trying to save as many as possible for a memory box.

They are enjoying walks over the field and meeting new friends. We have brought them a paddling pool each (in the pic attached is their pre-paddling pool days when a big lunchbox had to do!) as they love the water so much.

Honey is still a very early riser! Tried all sorts but she is determined to get up before 5:30 am.

Both of the girls are now fully toilet trained too. Lol, you were right when you guessed that Honey would be top dog! – We didn’t think this would be possible when we brought little innocent-looking Honey home and Willow seemed to be in charge in the early days. That has changed now, Honey is in charge of Willow!

It is great to have canine friends back, our house is again a home. Sometimes in the evening, the girls settle where Zak is now, I think they would have got along very well 🙂

Thank you for the girls, they mean so much to me and have made me so much happier.

Love and best wishes.

Georgie Bell

Dog: Nahla

Hope this email finds you both well. Just wanted to send you a couple of fresh pictures of our beloved Nahla. As you can see she really has grown into a beautiful lab. We get so many people stop us to tell us what a beautiful dog she is.

She is still as good as gold and a pleasure to own. She is such a character. I couldn’t imagine life without her!

I hope you like the pics. Love to you both.

Anne, Chantelle, Elise and of course Nahla xxxx
